Equipment

3.1 Home Team is required to set up the bases to the dimensions listed in Rule 2.1; the Pitching Line according to Rule 2.2. Both bases and pitching line must be properly measured out. 1st Base must be a safety bag and 2nd/3rd base standard bases. All bases must be properly fastened securely.

3.2 Home Team to supply a new game ball and a “gently used” back up ball. Visitor team to also supply a “gently used” back up ball.

3.3 Bats must be one piece construction, multi-piece permanently assembled or two piece interchangeable construction. Bats must be certified by NSA, USSSA or ASA. Fingerprint Logo must be present.

3.4 All catchers must wear a mask. Body protectors and shin guards are strongly recommended and encouraged to wear. Masks are also mandatory for members of the team that are “warming up” the pitcher between innings.

3.5 Teams are required to have at least 1 Pitcher/Fielder’s mask available. Pitchers are strongly recommended to use one. Any defensive player may wear an approved mask. Teams are encouraged to have a first aid kit readily available.

3.6 JEWELRY. Exposed jewelry such as wrist watches, bracelets, any type of earrings, neck chains, or any other items judged dangerous by the umpire may not be worn during the game. Medical alert bracelets or necklaces are not considered jewellery.

3.7 GLOVE or MITTS Any player may wear a glove, but only the catcher and first baseman may use mitts. a) No top lacing, webbing, or other device between the thumb and body of the glove or mitt worn by a first baseman or catcher or a glove worn by any fielder, shall be more than 5” in length.

3.8 SHOES (Softball/Baseball Cleats) a) All team members must wear shoes. A shoe shall be considered official if it is made with either canvas or leather uppers or similar materials and is fully enclosed. b) The soles may be either smooth or have soft or hard rubber cleats. Ordinary

metal sole and heel plates may be used if the spikes on the plates do not extend more than 3⁄4” from the sole or heel of the shoe. Shoes with rounded metal spikes are illegal. c) No hard plastic, nylon or polyurethane spikes similar to a metal sole and heel plate are allowed d) Shoes with detachable cleats that screw onto the shoe are not allowed; however, shoes with detachable cleats that screw into the shoe are allowed.
